Doreena Patrick, Ph.D., MS, BS, BA

Analytical and Trace Element Geochemist and Chemostratigrapher

Dr. Patrick is an industry-known geochemist, chemostratigrapher and geologist with a specialty in Rare Earth Elements (REE) Geochemistry. With 20+ years’ experience in both Industry and Academia, Dr. Patrick provides a uniquely practical set of capabilities across several disciplines. Her Ph.D. in Geochemistry/Geology from the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia) is backed by undergraduate degrees including an M.S. in Geochemistry/Geology, a B.S. in Chemistry and a B.A. in History from Temple University (Philadelphia). Her industry experience Includes a senior position as a Senior Chemostratigrapher at Schlumberger in Utah where she worked with the analysis of critical minerals and their use as indicators in Geo-steering. Dr. Patrick has an extensive background in analytical techniques such as Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometer (ICP-MS) and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) analysis. Among her major achievements she pioneered novel analysis of paleoenvironments for industry, law enforcement forensics, exploration and paleontology using REE analysis on various lithologies and bioapatite. With a long history of research, professional networking and collaboration with a broad range of Universities and government institutions, Dr. Patrick is the author of several oft-cited publications in International journals. She has provided her knowledge and skills as professor for several different universities, teaching a broad range of topics such as disciplines within geology and geochemistry as well as stratigraphy and chemostratigraphy. Dr Patrick brings this broad palette of capabilities, knowledge, and experience to the table for her clients in every engagement.

Jason Callaghan M.S., B.S, BA

Chief Data Scientist and Geochemical Modeler

Jason holds a Master’s degree (MSc) in Applied Mathematics from the University of Washington (Seattle), which is additionally underpinned by dual bachelor degrees in Mathematics (BSc) and Geology (BA) (with a minor in chemistry) from La Salle University (Philadelphia). Jason’s primary interest lies in applying mathematical models to geological scenarios, to better understand the underlying mechanisms of earth’s complex systems. Jason’s specialties include applied mathematics and geochemical modeling in both academic and industrial scenarios. Jason presently works with Dr Patrick to analyze, profile, and model the challenges posed by their clients to determine and provide best-case solutions.

During his career, Jason has been directly engaged in the R&D phase of reactive transport models and quantifying uncertainty for ground water contamination of uranium compounds, working with the University of Florida. Additionally, he was involved with the development for predictive air pollution chemistry models, working with Drexel University. Jason has provided his skills as a professor in teaching high level mathematics, geochemistry, and has been active in educational outreach programs. Jason has several years of hands-on experience in fieldwork with paleontologists; Anecdotally, he, in fact, discovered a mosasaur which was excavated and displayed in the South Dakota school of mines.
